Two recent trends in academic libraries are the expansion of first year experience programs and the increased demand for accountability through assessment. The two often go hand in hand as libraries are asked to measure and report their impact on new students for institutional goals and accreditation standards.

From formative to summative assessments, Raymond Pun and Long Island University’s First Year Success librarian, Katelyn Angell will share different assessment techniques using qualitative and quantitative methods to assess first year students in the areas of instruction, user experiences, programming, and more!
